The most clean House Award winner
The Most Hard worker Award winner
Today, Saturday 15th May 2010 marks the day of Hygiene for the Afiaman church of Christ. The members of the congregation at 7am this morning embarked on a a clean-up exercise in a village called Mayera about 5 miles away from Afiaman. The team was lead by the Preacher (Lawrence Lamptey). There were 20 members who participated in the exercise. Our goal is to preach Christ through cleanliness and also encourage the inhabitant to learn how to keep their environment clean.
The Activities performed include
weeding, sweeping, picking unwanted materials, burning and clearing around a borehole which was formally used by the people but not in used anymore because of the weeds around it. We had wished the people of the village come in to help us do the cleaning but unfortunate non except two (one male and a female)came. The man was the only drunkard who enjoyed helping us even though you could smell all the alcohol.
As part of the exercise, there was a presentation of awards.
One award goes to the most clean house before we arrived then the next one went to the most hardworking person from the village. In this package of the award are
2 soaps, tooth brush and tooth paste,a powdered soap and a full Bible. This was given to each of the winners. They are both women.
This project was organized to create awareness of the Lord's church because it is our future plan to go and evangelize there and if possible establish the Lord's church in the village. One intresting thing we encountered was; a lady who saw us working approached us and wanted to find out where we are coming from (or who we are) one of the brothers and told her we are brethren from the church of Christ that meets at Afiaman (H.C.C Campus) and she was amazed because she said "I am also a member of the church of Christ but I worship at Pokuase that is about 10 miles away from Mayera. Meaning this woman seems do not know that there is one closer to her which is Afiaman.
We are very happy the Lord is really using use to make impart in the lives of many. We believed that the little effort we have just exhibited the Lord will surely bless it and will yeild much fruits.
Thank you for staying with us all this while.
Lawrence Lamptey.
